Dear Mercuteio,

"For you #mercutiosgroupies Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries" @Mercuteio (May 3, 2010)

  1. "I wonder if i should play dead so this ambulance lady can give me mouth to mouth & join the #mercutiogroupies" ..from today.

Still had that quintessential Mercuteio spirit until the very end. :/

RIP Mercuteio. You're deeply missed, love.

  2. Well, I spit all over my screen when @korearian complimented his sombrero and he said, "You should see my maracas."

But he really melted my heart when he was trying to get into Jess's pants. *sigh* I've always had a weakness for feigned sincerity.

The first and the best, Mercuteio was a charmer - no matter how scandalous his language. I will miss that spirit of engaging everyone in all that he did - movie marathons, chants, office games, or the infamous #uploadthatload.

    I will miss you. :)

  6. "I could tell my parents hated me - my bath toys were a toaster and a radio"

One of my absolute favorites because he made me laugh and completely broke my heart at the same time. So many layers and so much complexity, but so many laughs. My life will, indeed, suck without you, @mercuteio.

  8. It's tough to beat: "Woke up this morning next to a ginger lass. Head throbbing and wondering where my pants are. Cheers."

But of course my personal fave was when he mentioned he'd be watching footie, and said the game was up for grabs. He asked us to pick a winner. A winner? I don't even watch American football. So I googled BBC sports to see who was playing that night. Milan and Barcelona. I tweeted offhandedly to Merc, "I thay Barthelona." His response: "I thee, tho you want Barthelona to thcore thome goalth - Methi needth to work hith magic."

I thought, holy shit! An actor who so understands his character he can not only improvise pitch-perfectly but play along comfortably, and hilariously, with the audience. In 140 characters or less.

    Clever dude.

  9. Kat, remember that was my impression of Merc. Not his actual words. Still, I'd like to think it was the general idea.

  10. So many things! That "All By Myself" video was hilarious, that was really the thing that first put me in awe of him. I always loved his interactiveness, all the pics and videos he posted and how he addressed the audience so frequently. Just about anything he said was hilarious. The insults he hurled at Tybalt were great (and so was the mask he made!) His comment about Juliet the other day:

"@Tybalt_Cap and also can you remind your younger sister that she owes me new sheets - i thought she wasn't a virgin"

was shocking and my jaw dropped that he would say that!

I also loved it when I actually got him to respond to me, he had asked who wanted to play #uploadthatload, so I sent him a picture of my chest. He responded "haha that's brilliant". That totally made my day.

So yes, all in all he was an awesome character, performed very well considering this was a mostly text only performance, and I will sadly miss him.

  11. I will remember him for the one and only time he tweeted me back - and it was so poignantly bittersweet I felt really sad!

@JabberwockJess Save me a seat - I'll be round after the match #mercutiogroupies

  12. How can I forget Mercuteio. He was the best. Couldn't hold onto his phone though, god bless him. But he could drink. Boy could he drink. And he could ogle women with the best of them. He was a prince among men and a leche among princes.

I'd like to remember him when he was in his happy place.

  13. That "All by myself" video, he got me at that. That's when my heart warmed up to Merc. At Juliets party Lawrence told me to watch out for Merc. I laughed that he's a bit too young for me. Damn cheeky bloke, got to me after all.

  17. Although you blamed both Montagues and Capulets on your deathbed, I hope you realise how good a friend, a brother, you had in Romeo. He wrote a very moving poem for you. He will miss you greatly, as will all of us who knew you. Rest in peace.
